Appointment of Election Commissioner for SEBS North America’s 2025-2027 Executive Committee Elections

Following the Executive Committee meeting on May 22, 2025, SEBS NA, Inc (formerly SEBS North America) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Rohan Benjankar as the Election Commissioner for the 2025 elections. Dr. Benjankar will oversee the election of the Board of Directors and Officers for the 2025-2027 term, including expanding the election committee to a three-member team, deciding election procedures and executing it. 

Dr. Rohan Benjankar is an accomplished academic and researcher, currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Civil Engineering Department at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). His expertise lies in water resources engineering, with a specialized focus on river fluvial processes and the interaction between hydrology and riparian and aquatic ecosystems, including river restoration. Dr. Benjankar holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Idaho, an M.Sc. in Water Resources Engineering and Management from the University of Stuttgart, and a B.E. in Civil Engineering from Tribhuvan University. He is based in Illinois.

His dedication upholds the organization’s commitment to accountable governance and seamless transitions of responsibility, a cornerstone of SEBS North America’s practices since its inception in the early 2000s. 

Election Timeline and Procedure

The Election Commission of SEBS-NA seeks nominations for all positions of SEBS-NA’s
Executive Committee for the term September 2025 to August 2027. All interested
candidates are required to file for candidacy by sending an email to
[email protected] by July 7, 2025 (midnight EST).


Nominations are available for the following positions:
● President- 1
● Vice-President-1
● General Secretary-1
● Joint Secretary-1
● Treasurer-1
● Executive Members-6


While submitting a candidacy, the following guidelines must be followed:

  1. One individual is eligible to compete for only one position.
  2. Be a SEBS-NA member in good standing.
  3. Must be 18 years old by the filing date.
  4. Eligibility requirements for the President: Candidates for the post of President
    must have served at least one year in the Executive Committee (with SEBS or
    SEBS-Global), be residing in North America, and be a bona fide graduate of
    BNKS with a minimum Bachelor’s degree.
  5. For other office and executive member positions: The candidate must be
    residing in North America and be a bona fide graduate of BNKS.
  6. Only nominations sent to the email address: [email protected] will be
    considered by the election commission.

I. Motivation Behind Contesting (not more than 75 words)
Eligibility requirements for voters: Voters must be residing in North America and be
bona fide graduates of BNKS.
The election committee will confirm each eligible submission and subsequently make a
formal announcement of each interested candidate by July 11, 2025.
Any interested candidate will automatically fill uncontested positions. If there are
more than one candidates seeking a position, an election will be held online to elect the
winner for that particular position. The detailed information about online voting will be
provided as required.
If any positions are still vacant, the new Executive Committee will automatically
assume the responsibility of filling those positions during its first meeting. The final
results of the election will be announced before or on July 25, 2025.


The election schedule is as follows:

  • Election Term: September 2025 – August 2027
  • Candidacy submission end date: 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time, July 7, 2025
  • Deadline to withdraw: 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time, July 9, 2025
  • Final list of candidates publish date: July 11, 2025
  • Final day to register/update for voters: 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time, July 11, 2025
  • Voting begins: July 15, 2025 (All voting will be online. Voting begins only if required).
  • Voting ends: 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time, July 21, 2025
  • Election result announcement: On or before July 25, 2025.
